BAND BIOS

IAN BENOIT -guitar and vocals

Ian was born and raised in St. Cloud, Minnesota with a guitar in his hands and classic vinyl in his ears. At age 9 he began taking guitar lessons, and after a year break he began to play seriously after his dad introduced him to Stevie Ray Vaughan. Once he was accomplished in playing the blues, Ian started playing a few talent shows with his little brother, Anders, on the drums. In early high school Ian discovered his love for the Lord Jesus, and lead worship at his church and youth group. Around the same time Ian met a couple good friends, and along with his brother, formed the group Haukos and the Homeschoolers. H&H were very active playing Battle of the Band's and other gigs around St Cloud. Ian went on to study music education at St. Cloud State University. He also met his beautiful wife, Elizabeth, while playing on a worship team in college. He is now living in Plainview, MN, teaching music at Ben Franklin elementary school in Rochester. Ian loves the opportunity to play classic rock and blues again with the guys in Generation | | Gap!

ELIZABETH BENOIT -bass

Elizabeth Benoit, a native to Plainview MN, first picked up the guitar in her senior year of high school. When she went to college, she saw a need in her campus ministry for a bass player on the worship team. She ordered her first bass and taught herself to play. On that same worship team, she met Ian Benoit, her future husband. She has played in various rock bands and worship teams over the years with Ian, and greatly enjoys getting to play for the guys in Generation | | Gap. Elizabeth is also an avid photographer, and is credited with all the photes used in this site.

KENTON LYNNE -keyboard

Kenton loves all kinds of music.   He started out with classical music in grade school taking lessons from the nuns for $1 a lesson.   Years later while in college, but wanting to be a jazz musician, he took lessons from Buddy Montgomery (Wes Montgomery's younger brother) who told him, prophetically "best stay in school, son".   So he finished school and got a real job programming computers but always kept his interest in music and  has been in various types of  bands over the years -- everything from rock,  pop, C&W and Christian/Gospel.  He's pleased that Generation Gap so neatly blends all those genres together.

KEVIN WULFF -drums

Kevin began playing percussion in 5th grade school band. He bought his first multi colored, cobbled together drum kit in 9th grade and soon after was a founding member of an early version of church praise band that was breaking new ground. Behind closed doors the members called themselves the “God Squad”. As a high school senior he started playing clubs and bars with his band director, and he played in a country rock band to put himself through college. Four years of optometry school in Chicago put a dent in his musical life, He played some before and after marriage, but raising kids was a priority that limited music. Ten years ago he joined the Rochester Big Band and has also worked with other local groups. He likes the team feeling of musical groups, and he is pleased to be part of the talent that is the Generation Gap.
